The king of heartfelt ballads is about to welcome a new little muse into his life. Ed Sheeran has announced that he and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, are expecting their third child — a baby boy! And in true Ed fashion, he’s already put pen to paper and guitar to hand, writing a new song dedicated entirely to his son.
“It’s a Boy — and He Already Has a Song”
Ed shared the happy news in a quietly emotional Instagram post, showing a photo of three tiny pairs of shoes — two pink, one blue — with the caption:
“We’ve been blessed again. Baby boy arriving this autumn. Our hearts (and house) are getting fuller. Love you always, Cherry.”
But what fans didn’t know — until a surprise reveal in an intimate radio interview later that afternoon — is that Ed has already written a new track, “Blue Sky Heart”, for his unborn son.
“I started strumming something the night Cherry told me,” Ed said. “It was raining outside, and I just had this image of a little boy looking up at a sky clearing after a storm. That became the heartbeat of the song.”
Lyrics That’ll Break (and Heal) You
Though the song hasn’t been officially released, Ed shared a few raw lines from the chorus during the interview:
“You’re not here yet, but I know your name / I dream of your laugh like sunshine in the rain / Little blue sky heart, you’ve already changed my days…”
Fans are already begging for a full release, but Ed says the track may remain a private lullaby — at least for now.
“Some songs are meant for stadiums,” he smiled. “But this one… this is for one tiny soul who hasn’t even opened his eyes yet.”
Family First, Always
Ed and Cherry, who married in a low-key ceremony in 2019, are already proud parents to daughters Lyra Antarctica and Jupiter. Friends close to the couple say Ed is more present than ever — making school runs, baking with the girls, and spending nights writing songs by the fireplace.
His upcoming hiatus from music and touring is all part of his commitment to being fully there for this next chapter.
“I want him to know his dad was there from the very beginning — with open arms and a guitar,” Ed said.
A New Era of Ed Sheeran
From writing anthems that echo through sold-out stadiums to whispering lullabies in a quiet nursery, Ed Sheeran’s journey continues to evolve — more personal, more grounded, and more beautiful than ever.
